UW .Vet Hosp called this am and said he’s not eating and they think the best place for him is home with his mom. His drain is out and he’s off all IV stuff; he’s on oral antibiotics and they don’t think he’s in any pain but I’m requesting pain meds to take home just in case.
Thank you everyone for all of your encouragement this past (almost) week. He has a nice new bed (they both do) and his harness is ordered.
I’ll keep you posted. I try to keep up with everyone and sadly this club keeps growing and growing.
Blessings to all; Lora, Gus and Oscar

I'm a retired nurse; plan on going back to work--need more money. Have many hobbies and interests: knitting, needlepoint, sewing, gardening, refinish wood, cross stitch. Addicted to Pinterest. Also part of an animal rescue group-animals that are in shelters where they are euthanized are transported here to Wisconsin or Minnesota. Have 2 english mastiff's. Oscar just turned 6 in march; already has hip dysplasia and arthritis and just started limping a couple of weeks ago. He has osteosarcoma in his right front leg. I was totally against amputation, thought it was cruel etc but it looks like it's the only way to take away his pain. The vet told me about this site and I need to decide tonight what to do.

I am sooooooo glad he’s coming home!! Everyone will feel better!! Time after time we’ve seen the pups come home and start eating and must over-all getting stronger and happier!
Yeah, I think it’s great to keep pain pills hadh and on a low dose. I would think this early is recovery…both recoveries…he would still be experiencing pai ! Do they ot have him on ANY pain meds now?
So post tonight, if you can, to let us know if you’re getting any tail wags yet! I know you and Gus will be wagging:-) 🙂
All sorts of links on here to help get him to eat. Try smelly stuff and try a little ice cream and good old stand by Milk Bones!
You will feel so much more relieved having him home! Lots of praisig, high energy “good boy” kind of stuff!
Lots of love!

Oscar will be so happy to be home. Find him his favorite junk food and let him eat away. He can always have the healthy stuff later.
Keep us posted.

Hey Lora, usually when everything is going good except the eating part, going home is all it takes for a dog to feel better and get back to normal. I agree, find the junk food and he’ll start chowing down in no time.
Hugs to you both! Glad you’ll be reunited.
